Last week I stood on the steps of New York’s City Hall for the release of a report the Sierra Club prepared on how the Bush administration mishandled the public health crisis that followed the attack on the World Trade Center.
Suzanne Mattei, our New York City Executive, spent the past year digging into public health records, using the Freedom of Information Act and extensive personal interviews with police, fire and rescue personnel, area
office workers, and residents to determine what the administration knew about the public health threat created by Ground Zero pollution (including asbestos, glass fibers, toxic benzene, and other vapors), when it knew, and
what it did with that knowledge. The results are grim reading.

“There’s been a lot of controversy about what should have been done to prevent the attack on the World Trade Center,” I explained to a huge assemblage of reporters. “There shouldn’t be any controversy about what should have been done after the attack. The government should have told us the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It should have done everything it could to find out what the health risks were to those exposed to the fumes. It should have done everything it could to enable them to protect themselves. And it should have done everything necessary to help them deal with the health consequences that followed. The Bush  administration did absolutely none of these things.”

An autopsy of a retired NYPD detective confirmed yesterday what his family and fellow cops long suspected - that James Zadroga’s death was “directly related” to the Ground Zero cleanup.

The stunning findings are believed to mark the first time the death of a cleanup worker has been officially tied to the aftermath of the terror attacks.

“It is felt with a reasonable degree of medical certainty that the cause of death in this case was directly related to the 9/11 incident,”

Dr. Gerard Breton, a pathologist at the Ocean County, N.J., medical examiner’s office wrote in the Feb. 28 autopsy report.

Zadroga died on Jan. 5 of pulmonary disease and respiratory failure - and he had lung-tissue inflammation Breton attributed to “a history of exposure to toxic fumes and dust.”

The autopsy report was released yesterday by Michael Palladino, president of the Detectives’ Endowment Association, and Zadroga’s grieving father, Joseph.

‘Explosion’ Vs ‘collapse’  IS THIS THE “COLLAPSE” OF A BUILDING?

In a natural collapse, debris should fall close to the side of the building. However, in the case of the North Tower, picture right, We see upward explosions of dust and smoke in a symmetrical pattern.

In addition, debris – including multi-ton steel girders – was found 600 feet or two football fields from the side of the towers.
